A soldier interacts with a mysterious man. The subjects exchange eye contacts, with the soldier standing upright but affectionately relaxed. In contrast, the mysterious man with a hat was bowing respectfully, yet maintaining mysterious composure, causing the tension to sustain throughout the painting.
